I created two digital figures using the program Blender. My first figure was a white mouse ghost in spirit for halloween and fall, the mouse ghost had eyes and a small mouth. The Mouse ghost would simultaneously move horizontally and vertically, to simulate movement of a ghost in cartoons that I had imagined. Starting with the Mouse Ghost I looked at tutorials on youtube that showed me how to create a Cat ghost, when my figure started to look different than a cat I leaned into what it was actually looking like, A Mouse. I actually liked the mouse ghost better than the cat ghost because there is a abunous of cat ghosts but not mouse ghosts, it was a little touch of my own personality. I find it even more perfect because my Mongolian name is Khulan and it's very similar to the mongolian word Khulgan(meaning mouse), Which used to be my nickname when I was a kid. I believe making a mouse fits me more. When transferring the blender file to House effects was not difficult but my figure looked more pixely and looked like a 90s game ghost. It was not that I had wanted to come out but I was not super angry.
My second figure was the jumping Mouse from Coraline, yet again another mouse. I didn't realize until I just started writing this. It's a perfect coincidence. My jumping mouse originally was supposed to bounce on its ball from the left to right but yet again, HOuse Effects would not allow me to transfer my animation. So it just has the animation of the mouse moving up and down on the ball, which is better than nothing. I was upset because I put a lot of effort into animating the whole thing. My process for this figure was harder than the first one, I was unsure where to start, But I started off with using an image reference that Corrina had shown us in class. After that I used an AI program to create the head of the house. Since my original head looked wrong I stacked the AI created one on top of my built head. My inspiration for this film was Coraline obviously, as A child one of the first CDs I and my sister shared was Coraline and Little mermaid. I fell in love with Coraline and would watch it everyday. Throughout Middle and High School I would watch Coraline about every day because I loved how it made me feel when I was little. SInce college started I have not been able to watch Coraline the way I used to because of how busy I have been, but I still have found a way to incorporate a core memory and nostalgia in my current life to keep me comfort.
